                              * My Hidden Curriculum*

Each day I will be working on the following with your children: how to follow rules, how to share, and take turns.  I will be teaching that there are consequences for all actions.   I will show them how to solve their own problems, how to be responsible, and how to be safe.  I hope to help them develop a good work ethic, and see the value in completing an assignment well.  I will be helping them to develop their sense of humor, and most importantly, their self-esteem.  Although not measured on any standardized test, I feel these are the most important gifts I can give your children.

Daily Classroom Schedule:

8:00-8:10 Roll, Morning Business
8:10-9:30 Math
9:30-10:15 P.E.(Tues.&Fri.)/E.L.A. (Mon. &Thurs.)

Dear second grade families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Room 25! I have planned a challenging and exciting curriculum for the year. We have a wonderful class with many special projects and units planned. My goal as a teacher is to have all my students reading and writing on or above grade level before they enter third grade. Therefore, I will put major emphasis on reading. We have several intervention programs to help all students be successful readers. I encourage your support by reading to or with your child whenever possible. Let's work together to make a great future for your children!

I look forward to working with you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns during the school year, please call, email, or send a note with your child so we can set up a time to meet. Working together, we will create a positive and rewarding experience for your child in 2nd grade.

Sincerely,

Mrs. O'Brien
